Stand Up for Schools
Students from San Pasqual Valley High School and district will participate in a march to the Quechan Community Center where students will be speaking to assembled students and community members as part of a statewide day of action to show the pain unprecedented budget cuts is causing out students and schools, and stop the cuts to public education and other essential services. - What: A day to bring awareness about the education cuts in California
- When: Event will begin at flagpole at the high school campus at 8:00 a.m. Then students will march to the community center between 8:15 and 8:30 a.m.
- Where: San Pasqual High School, 676 Baseline Road. The to community center located at 604 Picacho Road.
- Visuals: Expect to see students marching, students carrying signs, along with Strong Hearts singers and speeches by students at the community center.

Citizen’s Academy
The Yuma Sector Border Patrol will host a Citizen’s Academy beginning March 4, 2010. The Citizen’s Academy is a program designed to provide Yuma residents first-hand knowledge of how the U.S. Border Patrol operates. The class will meet every Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. over a period of four weeks. The academy will give Yuma residents, along with business, civic, religious and community leaders an inside look at what it's like to be a Border Patrol agent in Yuma. Throughout the course, citizens will become familiar with the Border Patrol’s philosophy and personally experience the Border Patrol first-hand. Contact the Yuma Sector Public Affairs Office at (928) 341-6520 to request an application. Applications are also available at the Yuma Sector Headquarters building located at 4035 South Avenue A. Only 20 applicants will be accepted to the course, so sign up early.
