Yuma Area Household Hazardous Waste Program
Saturday, July 10, 7:00-11:00am The Yuma-area Household Hazardous Waste program will hold its next quarterly collection event at the City of Yuma North Public Works Yard, 265 W. 13th St. (13th Street between 4th Avenue and 1st Avenue). There is no charge to drop off applicable materials at this designated time and place. The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) program is the safest way to dispose of  products such as unwanted corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive material used in your home, car or truck, garden and lawn. Additionally, it is an opportunity to safely dispose of and/or recycle materials unwanted within the home. Items accepted at Saturday's HHW drop-off: Motor oil; Antifreeze; Paint; Solvents; Household cleaners; Pesticides; Fertilizers; Batteries; Tires (limit 5; must be off the rim). E-waste items for drop-off include: Home computer components; TV sets; VCRs/DVD players; Cell phones; Home phones. Recyclable items residents may drop off include: Aluminum cans; Cardboard material; Paper; Plastics; Documents and shredded papers. Recycling bins remain available year-round for residents to drop off aluminum cans, metal items, cardboard material, newspapers and clear plastic. The bins, at 2nd Avenue and 13th Street, and 45th Avenue and 17th Street, are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, to all Yuma County residents.  Future date is Oct. 9, 8 a.m. to noon.

Teen Expo
Through an exciting partnership between Arizona Western College and Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Yuma teens are planning the first Teen Expo…full of fun and educational booths. The teens are organizing and coordinating the entire event themselves as part of the summer Job Training Program.

Over 20 teens involved in the program have been making calls to local businesses seeking donations and participation for booths. The event will be free and open from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, July 10 at Carver Elementary School (1351 S. 5th Street-Yuma). Teens are encouraged to stop by enjoy food and information from local vendors.
