YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma residents are invited to the Historic Yuma Theatre for a little refreshing ‘rain’ provided by a youth theater production the evenings of
July 19-20.
Infinite Imagination Youth Theater, put on by Yuma Parks and Recreation, presents “Singin’ in the Rain Jr.” 7 p.m. Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20 at the Historic Yuma Theatre, 254 S. Main St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. both nights.
“Singin’ in the Rain” has all the makings of a classic, old-time Tinseltown tabloid headline: the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers. The silent movie on-screen couple, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, are a hot item at the box office and in the public’s imagination. When the era of “talking pictures” arrives, Lina's squeaky voice could signal the end of her career and her partner Don’s as well. However, Don meets a talented young actress and singer who just might help them fix their next film, and just might capture his heart as well.
Tickets are $5 each, or $2.50 each for children 6 and younger. Admission charges go toward future Infinite Imagination Youth Theater productions.
Infinite Imagination Youth Theater’s summer production features students aged 12-17 who rehearse for six hours daily Tuesdays through Fridays. In addition to singing, dancing and acting, they learn about costumes and set design as well.
