The City of Yuma understands that some residents may be affected by the ongoing federal government shutdown.
If you are concerned about making your City utility payments—such as water, sewer, or trash—please contact us.
We are here to help and can arrange temporary payment options during this time. Accounts will remain active, and no delinquent fees will be applied while arrangements are in place.
Residents may contact the City’s Customer Service Division at (928) 373-5076 or visit YumaAZ.gov for assistance.
Yuma County Public Health Services District (YCPHSD) Vector Control staff continue to conduct mosquito surveillance, including trapping and treating areas when appropriate.
YCPHSD reminds residents that the public is the first line of defense against mosquito-borne illnesses.
Everyone is encouraged to regularly inspect their homes and yards for standing water where mosquitoes can breed, such as in flowerpots, gutters, debris and birdbaths. Community members can further help protect their neighborhoods by promptly reporting any potential mosquito breeding sites or related concerns to the Health Department.
For more information contact the Yuma County Public Health Services District Vector Control at 928-317-4584.
You can also visit the Arizona Department of Health Services Mosquito-Borne Disease website by visiting this link: https://www.azdhs.gov/preparedness/epidemiology-disease-control/mosquito-borne/index.php#protection.
The City of Yuma’s Neighborhood and Economic Development Division invites residents to complete a housing survey to help develop the City’s Consolidated Plan — a five-year strategy that guides community development priorities.
Residents are encouraged to complete the housing survey at yumaaz.gov/affordablehousing by Thursday, November 13, 2025. Responses will help the City better understand neighborhood needs and ensure that investments align with the community’s priorities.
For more information, contact Kassandra Granados at 928-373-5187 or Kassandra.Granados@yumaaz.gov.
City of Yuma residents are invited to apply for the 2026 Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA), a once-a-week, in depth course about different City functions, departments, services and facilities.
The City is now accepting applications, which are available along with additional details and the 2026 class schedule at www.YumaAz.Gov/NLA.
In an interactive setting, NLA brings together City of Yuma staff members to inform participants about how City government works, including the distinct roles and responsibilities of City Council and City administration.
There is no fee to apply or attend. Applications remain open until the academy reaches its 25-person capacity. Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply early.
Academy participants will meet for three-hour sessions on Thursday evenings for 12 weeks beginning January 15, 2026. A graduation ceremony will take place on April 9, 2026.
NLA prepares participants to get involved in local government, from how to have their voices heard to understanding which agency or department should be addressed to handle a specific issue.
Graduates from NLA become prepared to work with City staff and Council on issues and topics, or to serve on boards and commissions. NLA also prepares individuals to serve in elected City offices. Current Councilmember Art Morales, for example, is an NLA graduate.
For additional information on the Neighborhood Leadership Academy or questions regarding the application, call City of Yuma Neighborhood Services at 928-373-5187.

Yuma City Hall will be closed Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in observance of Veterans Day.
Residential trash collection for homes inside the Yuma city limits will adjust for the holiday. Monday, Thursday, and Friday routes will be collected on their normal days, while Tuesday’s route will be collected on Wednesday. Curbside recycling pickups will take place as usual.
Residents can continue to access many City services while City Hall is closed by visiting www.yumaaz.gov. Through the City’s website, residents can read official City documents, pay utility bills, register for Parks and Recreation programs, and more. A self-serve kiosk for utility payments, accepting cash, credit, or debit, is available 24 hours a day outside the main entrance of City Hall.
In addition, residents can report non-emergency service needs such as street repair, graffiti, vandalism, streetlight outages, or road sign repair directly online using Yuma Click & Fix.
